What makes desi Khand better than regular sugar?

    1. Less processed:One of the key differences between desi khand and regular sugar is the level of processing. Regular sugar undergoes several stages of refinement, which strips it of its natural nutrients. During this process, chemicals are often used for bleaching and purifying, leaving behind a product that is essentially just pure sucrose with no other nutritional value. In contrast, desi khand is minimally processed and retains more of the natural vitamins and minerals found in the sugarcane juice.
    2. Rich in nutrients: As mentioned, desi khand contains trace minerals such as iron, magnesium, calcium and potassium, which are essential for good health. These minerals are important for maintaining healthy bones, muscle function, and overall energy levels. Regular white sugar, however, contains no such beneficial nutrients and is often referred to as empty calories.
    3. Lower glycemic index:Desi khand has a lower glycemic index (GI) than regular sugar. This means that it has a slower, more gradual effect on blood sugar levels, making it a better choice for people with diabetes or those trying to manage their blood sugar. While booth desi khand and white sugar are sources of simple carbohydrates, the presence of additional nutrients like molasses in desi khand may help regulate the sugar’s absorption rate in the body.
    4. More Complex flavor: Desi khand has a more complex flavor profile compared to the neutral sweetness of refined sugar. Its natural, rich flavor can enhance the taste of various traditional sweets and desserts giving them a more authentic and earthy taste. Because it’s less sweet than white sugar, it can also be used in moderation, making it a better option for those looking to reduce their overall sugar intake while still enjoying sweetness.
    5. Digestive benefits:Many people believe that desi khand helps in improving digestion. Traditional wisdom often associates it with aiding digestion, especially when consumed after meals. Some even claim that it helps in treating constipation, as it is believed to have mild laxative properties. Regular sugar, on the other hand, can contribute to digestive issues when consumed in excess, especially since it lacks the fiber and minerals that promote digestive health.

How Desi Khand is Made:

    1. Fresh sugarcane juice is extracted.
    2. The juice is boiled to evaporate water and concentrate the syrup.

    4. The resulting light brown sugar crystals are collected and sun-dried
